Images and auto-digitizing
Trace pictures or turn them into stitches, up to 10 per design.
Pictures on the canvas
- Upload or drop pictures: each one is added (up to 10). They are only a guide; exported files contain just the stitches.
- Click a picture to select it, drag to move, use its corners or the size box to resize. Flip it, lock it, fade it or hide it from the Images panel.
Auto-digitize
Click Auto-digitize under a picture. Its artwork is stitched exactly where the picture sits, at its size. Moving the picture later moves its stitches; resizing it digitizes it again at the new size.
Editing the shapes of an image
- One image at a time is the one being edited: its shapes are listed in the Shapes panel. Click one (in the list or on the canvas) to change its stitch (Fill, Satin, Run or Skip) and angle.
- To edit another image's shapes, click Edit shapes under it. Your changes to the first one are kept.
- In Size and stitches, set the image's width, the most thread colours to use, and whether to remove the background.
Deleting an image deletes the stitches made from it too.
Tip: Clean artwork with few, flat colours and no tiny details gives the best result. Thin lines under 0.8 mm sew as a single line.
